Pinch me, pinch me, and pinch me again! I'm thrilled to introduce the first Kinkahe pop-up – an installation at Soho.Home.Studio Chelsea available for you to explore from now until the end of April. I'm a long-time fan of the iconic Soho House private members club interiors, and over the years, I've taken inspiration from many of the Houses when designing my own home, so this feels like a full-circle moment.
If you haven't yet visited the Soho Home flagship store on the King's Road, now's the perfect time to discover the new Spring / Summer collection, which is teeming beautifully with Kinkahe. You'll find most of the Kinkahe line in a dedicated space at the entrance of the beautiful heritage building, formerly a chapel dating back to 1824. It's the first time even I have seen the whole Kinkahe collection displayed together, and it's a showstopper if I say so myself.
When Soho.Home.Studio Chelsea burst onto the London interior scene two years ago during lockdown, I - like many others - was busy refining my living space since we were all spending so much time at home. Soho Home's debut was a refreshing welcome, offering an exquisite curation of furnishings, textiles, and accessories, capturing the same relaxed, stylish comfort characteristic of the Soho House brand.
I scoured the range, wanting everything, but one thing that struck me was that there wasn't any basketry. For me, no interior is complete without the imbued texture of basketry, so having just launched Kinkahe, I took a bold step and made contact with the team at Soho Home, offering to collaborate on some exclusive basket pieces.
It just so happened that Soho Home was due to launch the Member Market – a space for Soho House members to collaborate and exclusively showcase their complementary creative products. Fast forward 18 months, and here we are. The Soho Home team - Alexia, Sara and Tom - have been on hand to listen, lend ideas and put every effort into bringing the vision to life. From our checkerboard display of the K1, through to an explosion of mimosa in the K6 vase, the Kinkahe collection stands tall and proud, ready to find new homes to accessorise.
Visit the Kinkahe pop-up at Soho.Home.Studio Chelsea, 6 Duke of York Square, London SW3 4LY. Available until the end of April 2023.
