About Kinkahe
Kinkahe is a lifestyle brand presenting a beautiful curation of stylish, sustainable and storied baskets. All our baskets are 100% Ghanaian and 100% natural, handmade by Ghanaian artisans using a traditional weave technique, passed down through generations of weavers. Kinkahe works in partnership with a Ghanaian-owned social enterprise in Bolgatanga, a town in the Upper East Region of Ghana, which holds community at its core. Every basket purchased helps to empower the Bolga communities whose livelihoods are hugely dependent on the basket trade. The name Kinkahe derives from the Guruni (local dialect in Bolgatanga) name Kenkanna, which literally translates to 'elephant grass', the grass used to make the baskets. You can learn more about our basket-making process here. From laundry baskets to shoppers and vases, there’s a Kinkahe basket to suit almost every home décor need. Kinkahe is the brainchild of Pegi, a luxury PR professional. READ MORE
